A man who claimed he masterminded the killing of Anni Dewani will escape justice despite admitting he was 'very much in charge' of a plot to murder her, it has been claimed.
Monde Mbolombo said he was a 'go-between' in a plot to hijack the taxi honeymoon bride Anni, 28, was travelling in when she was murdered in Cape Town, South Africa in 2010.

But it has been reported that the 34-year-old was allegedly informed in December that he will not face charges.
According to the Daily Mirror, Anni's family have never been made aware of this decision - and had only recently urged authorities to ensure Mbolombo faces justice.
The newspaper reports that a judge has reversed a promise of immunity for Mbolombo testifying during the trial of Anni's new husband Shrien Dewani.
A prosecutor is alleged to have told Mbolombo he would not be charged in a phone call after the trial six months ago.
Anni was killed on November 13 2010 while riding in a cab with her new husband, Shrien Dewani, 35, through the impoverished township of Gugulethu.
She was shot through the neck in the back of a taxi while her husband and the driver escaped the two apparent robbers.
The vehicle was discovered the next day with Anni's body in the back seat.
It later transpired that the driver was part of the gang that robbed and killed Anni and they were given life sentences, although one died last year in prison from cancer.
After years of delays and legal wrangling Shrien Dewani was finally extradited to South Africa to stand trial last year.
Eventually the judge threw the case out, telling prosecutors their argument was riddled with contradictions.
