That can't be sanitary.
One of Japan's famous hot springs has been shut down after multiple reports of orgies, The Guardian reports. The secluded baths in Shiobara, Tochigi (just outside of Tokyo), apparently attracted a lot of exhibitionists over the last year. Authorities have gotten multiple reports from locals and other bathers of inappropriate behavior.
But the hot springs weren't shut down until a videotaped orgy between at least 15 men and 7 women broke out in the hot springs. For the record, the spring apparently only seats 10 comfortably, so you can imagine how people were uh, squeezing in there.
The local tourism board is embarrassed about the spring's reputation, so they've shut the place down indefinitely. "With the resort being promoted by the prefecture as a tourist attraction, it was a tough decision," said Shigeki Tashiro, head of the local council. "However, if left as it is, the image of the area as a tourist destination could be downgraded."
For now, anyone looking to have an orgy in a hot spring will have to go elsewhere, or just host one in a hot tub in their own backyard.
