Click & Close Ads Brazilian star has been in talks for three weeks, claim reports Bani Yas have to resolve only “small details” to sign Brazilian star Robinho from AC Milan, Sky Blues vice-chairman Mubarak Awad Bin Mahroum has claimed. “The deal is nearly complete, leaving only small details on the contract terms [to be agreed],” Mahroum told the Arabic press. “This will be resolved this week before the player comes to Abu Dhabi for a medical and formal contract signing. “Bani Yas entered into negotiations with Robinho to strengthen the offensive line after dispensing of the services of Argentinian striker Denis Stracqualursi. “Robinho is fluent in centre midfield and attacking from the left, he is also experienced in the industry and still has a lot to offer Bani Yas next season as we build a strong team that can compete across all tournaments.” Meanwhile, the website ESPN.com.br said the club were “waiting for a phone call” from the former Real Madrid and Manchester City forward’s lawyer, Marisa Alija. The lawyer reportedly said: “We still have to talk and see what is best for him.” Bani Yas have been in talks with Robinho for three weeks, according to tuttomercatoweb.com, and have offered him a two-year deal with wages of $4.5 million (Dh16.5m) per year. The 31-year-old is currently on loan with the Brazilian side Santos from AC Milan and is preparing for the Copa America, which starts on Thursday in Chile. It would be a huge statement of intent by Bani Yas, who finished eighth in the Arabian Gulf League last season, and whose city rivals Al Jazira are poised to sign the former Arsenal striker Gervinho from Italian giants Roma.Click & Close Ads

Click & Close Ads Meanwhile, Al Jazira have taken to the internet to deny that their UAE striker Ali Mabkhout will be joining Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, whose attacking midfielder Thiago Neves would reportedly move to the capital as part of the deal. The club released a statement on its website and Twitter account saying: “Al Jazira Football Company did not reach any full transfer or loan deal for the first-team attacker Ali Mabkhout, who is still committed to the club with a three-year contract.
