Dil Dhadakne Do starring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar and Rahul Bose is in its second week but its still getting cash registers jingling. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, this big budget multi-starrer hit the screens on June 5 and since then it has managed to pull in crowd to the cinema halls and has raked in good money. In fact, on Friday Mohit Suri’s much-awaited intense love story Hamari Adhuri Kahani featuring Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan and Rajkummar Rao made its way to the theatres but the film hardly affected the collections of DDD which is said to be the most stylish film of this year.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the updated figures of Dil Dhadakne Do a while back. He wrote on the popular social networking site Twitter, “#DilDhadakneDo witnesses good growth on Sat. [Week 2] Fri 2.27 cr, Sat 3.53 cr. Total – 61.90 cr. India biz.”
Trade portal Boxofficeindia reported, “The film is probably heading for lifetime business in the range of 80 crore nett. It may do a little more if it can survive after the release of ABCD 2 as then it will hang around in theatres till the release of Bajrangi Bhaijaan due to a weak flow of releases.”

Since Hamari Adhuri Kahani hasn’t packed a solid punch at the box office, its very much likely that Priyanka and Ranveer starrer will continue its good run at the box office! This is what excessive hype does to a movie, the critics didn't help either. More than ever, the audience goes by what critics say.Sadly, very few of these critics are objective. Many factors influence their discission in judging a performance or a film.
A lot of pple kept saying its just another film about rich pples problems.
I have been vouching for gangaajal 2. It seems to be a political action drama that highlights farmer suicides and its causes and I believe its a course of concern in India today. "Correct me if am wrong".I learnt the film maker p
Prakash jaah is a veteran and has experience. I only hope that the posters for the movie will be intriguing enough and the movie will have little but catchy music and take less than 2 hrs for the whole film so it doesn't get boring.
I noticed PC hasn't been on social media for a while, that's actually healthy, too much exposure is bad for anyone in my opinion it causes more harm to her than good. She should give her lovers and haters the room to miss her aClick & Close Ads

This 3D Printed Bike Tells You Where to Go

Maybe it has been the influence of the current hipster scene: the hype among urban biking. Apparently urban biking requires entirely different bikes than suburban biking does and therefore a Bike Design Project started where five design studio’s across five cities had to come up with a perfect urban bike. The winning bike will be manufactured for a limited run of 100 bikes and will be in stores next year. Industry, a Portland-based studio came up with a very interesting bike: one that uses bluetooth and handlebars that tell you when to stop or turn.
Industry worked together with Ti Cycles to create a bike with a 3D printed titanium frame. The bike is called Solid and can connect to a smartphone app: My Bike. This app alarms a user when a light needs replacement and if something gets wrong with one’s brakes. There is also software called Discover My City, which has a series of routes through Portland’s most trendy neighborhoods, with suggestions about where to eat and shop.

Nevertheless, the idea with cycling is that you need to focus on the road and not on your smartphone. This bike therefore uses integrated feedback on handlebars. Those handlebars tell a user when to turn, as they will buzz when a turn appears. As you’re getting closer, they will buzz more frequently. And then there’s the possibility to control your light via built-in sensors and change gears by pressing an electronic button. Yes, a bike for superman.
Although the bicycle looks highly interesting and can be seen as a piece of art for the designing world, we don’t know if we would like our bike to have an automatic buzz when we’re approaching a turn. On the other side: it could add some extra safety to traffic in general. Whether you like the bike or not, you have to admit the Portland-based studio brings the concept of urban biking to a whole new level.Click & Close Ads

Can you put a price on history?

Many consider Magna Carta to represent the foundation of modern democracy, but a political row has erupted over a council spending £1m to mark the 800th anniversary of its sealing. How much are we prepared to spend on our history?
The Queen, Prince William, Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Royal and other dignitaries have been gathering at what is essentially a field in Surrey.
Known as Runnymede, the field was witness to the sealing of Magna Carta and is seen by many as the birthplace of modern democracy.
Gathered dignitaries are being entertained with musical and spoken word performances, seeing the unveiling of a new piece of artwork and witnessing the rededication of the existing Magna Carta memorial.
But, some people have questioned the "spiralling" cost of the event - which originally had a budget of £100,000, but has ended up costing £600,000.
The artwork - 12 bronze chairs called The Jurors - has cost an additional £400,000, and all this had been paid for by Surrey County CouncilNo-one disputes that the signing of the Magna Carta is a significant moment in our history," said opposition councillor Eber Kington.
"However, with Surrey County Council already announcing cuts to the highway budget, youth services and children's centres, this does seem a strange spending priority."Click & Close Ads

The council's leader David Hodge, said he was not surprised by the criticism, but was confident it will prove to be worth the money.
"This is a modest investment considering the Magna Carta's historic significance and evidence of the economic and cultural benefits resulting from the expected boost in tourism for the area, with the anniversary generating millions of pounds," he said. The county council no doubt hopes to replicate the "Richard III effect", which has seen tourists flock to Leicester following the discovery of the king's remains under a council car park.
His reinterment cost more than £3m and a further £4m was spent on a visitor centre next to the car park where his remains were found.
But, the city council argues it was money well spent, as the king has already generated an estimated £60m for the local economy, with £4.5m of that in two weeks' of events surrounding the reinterment.
"The discovery of King Richard lll and his subsequent reinterment has had a greater impact on the city than we could ever have anticipated," said Leicester City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby.Richard III once owned Barnard Castle, which is located in the County Durham town of the same name, but the town has not been able to benefit from the king's effect.
It is already a popular tourist destination but it has a problem - part of the wall of its namesake castle collapsed in 2009.
Repairs costing between £400,000 and £600,000 are needed - but, six years later the work has still not been done. There were actually tourists calling it 'Barney Rubble' because it looks like a pile of rubble," said Gary Marshall, of the Barnard Castle Walls Trust.
"Now, we've got people saying we've got big mice because we've got a big hole in the wall."
Much of the castle is owned by Lord Barnard and looked after by English Heritage, but the ownership of the part where the wall collapsed is unclear.Click & Close Ads

Mr Marshall predicts the town "will die" if the repairs are not carried out.
"You are taking away its main tourist attraction," he said.
"What does it say about our town if we are willing to let our castle drop to bits?"A very different approach was taken with Lincoln Castle, where £22m has been spent improving it in an attempt to attract more visitors.
Much of the money came from the Heritage Lottery Fund, but Lincolnshire County Council spent £4.5m of its own money.
The council, which has been criticised for plans to hand over 30 of its libraries to volunteers in an effort to save £2m, insists spending millions on the castle was justified.
Tourism development manager Mary Powell, predicts a £68m boost to the local economy and the creation of about 1,100 new jobs.
"As many visitors to Lincoln stay in rural Lincolnshire, we would expect these economic benefits to be felt across the county," she said.A vault was built to house Lincoln's copy of Magna Carta as part of the castle renovation, and the council hopes this will further boost tourism for years to come.
"The improvements also mean the castle is in a much better physical condition than it was," said Ms Powell.
"This should reduce the risk of taxpayers having to pick up any hefty repair bills over the coming years."But, investing public money in historic buildings does not always go to plan.
Apethorpe Hall in Northamptonshire, a favourite haunt of King James I, was compulsorily purchased by the government for £3m.
English Heritage planned to spend a further £4m restoring the Grade I listed mansion, then recoup the public's money by selling it.
Unfortunately, the gamble did not pay off.
After spending £8m in repairs - double the amount planned - Apethorpe Hall eventually sold for £2.5m.
English Heritage's chief executive Simon Thurley, welcomed the sale and maintained the project had saved "by far the most important country house to have been threatened with major loss through decay, since the 1950s".If you view it as a grant it doesn't look so silly at the end of the process," said Matthew Slocombe, director of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.
"It would have been a national tragedy if Apethorpe Hall had slipped into the ground through neglect and dereliction.Click & Close Ads

"It's difficult of course when there is competition for public funds and I'm sure most people would say if it's a choice between the health service and historic buildings then the health service would win."But, Mr Slocombe argued investing in heritage often leads to wider economic benefits, not least revenue from tourism.
Apethorpe Hall's new owner has agreed to open the building to the public for 50 days annually, and English Heritage will get to keep the revenue generated from tours.
The new owner, Jean Christophe Iseux, Baron von Pfetten, is also committing his own money to the continued restoration, which requires many more millions of pounds.
"Our vision for Apethorpe is to help this house regain the place in British history that it deserves," said Baron von Pfetten.Click & Close Ads

Flights to and from Bali have been cancelled and suspended across Australia following an ash threat from an active volcano.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said volcanic ash from Mount Raung had drifted toward Denpasar Airport following an eruption on Thursday.
The ash, which is 150 kilometres from Bali and 15 nautical miles from Denpasar, is not very thick and has been described as a weak plume.
However, the BoM said it could be days before it clears.
Jetstar Airlines has cancelled six flights and a further six have been delayed pending a further assessment of the situation.
Virgin Australia also said six flights to and from Denpasar have been cancelled and a further eight for today and tomorrow have been suspended.
"Our team of meteorologists are continuing to monitor the situation, in consultation with the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre," Virgin Australia said in a statement.
"The safety of our guests and crew is our highest priority, and we will recommence normal operations as soon as the volcanic ash safely allows it."
The airlines said travellers scheduled to fly on cancelled flights would be eligible to rebook on another flight or receive credit.
Jetstar cancelled flights on Thursday because of the ash before resuming services on Friday.

Sally Neville said her family was rebooked on two different flights after their original Jetstar flight was cancelled on Thursday.
Ms Neville and her sister flew to Bali on Friday, while her partner and his three daughters, aged six, nine and 12, waited in Melbourne for a flight on Saturday.
However, her partner's flight was cancelled again, leaving him in Melbourne with the children.
The ash is not visible in Bali, the locals are unaware of the volcano.

"The impact that it has had on our holiday has been pretty disappointing as my partner's friends are here and we are all meant to be holidaying together," Ms Neville said.
"It's been chaos."
Ms Neville said she and her partner were travelling with two other families, all from rural towns in the Fleurieu Peninsula, south of Adelaide.
"We had booked and planned this holiday for four months," she said.
"The ash is not visible in Bali, the locals are unaware of the volcano."
Another traveller Paul Langstaff said he waited at Perth Airport for more than five hours on Saturday after his Jetstar flight was delayed, then cancelled.
"There was a boarding call for Air Asia from Perth to Denpasar and everybody just looked at each other in absolute disgust," he said.Click & Close Ads
